Landscaping for Wildlife Seminar March 20, 2010, in Concord, N.H. -- Learn how to create wildlife habitat in your yard at a seminar called "Beautiful Backyard Habitats: Landscaping for Wildlife" being offered on March 20, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, N.H.  The seminar is being taught by Marilyn Wyzga, a New Hampshire Fish and Game Department wildlife educator and co-author of Integrated Landscaping: Following Nature's LeadClick here for more information.

Public Hearings Set for Proposed Wildlife Rule Changes: Proposed rule changes affecting wildlife and wildlife management in New Hampshire for 2010 and 2011 will be discussed at three public hearings being held by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department on the following dates and locations:

  • Monday, April 5, 2010, 6:30 p.m. – N.H. Fish and Game Region 1 Office, North Country Resource Center, 629 B Main Street, Lancaster, N.H.
  • Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 6:30 p.m. – Keene High School, 43 Arch Street, Keene, N.H.
  • Thursday, April 8, 2010, 6:30 p.m. – N.H. Fish and Game Department Headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H.

Turkey Hunting Workshop - April 10, 2010 -- A free workshop covering the basics of hunting wild turkeys is being offered by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department on Saturday, April 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Owl Brook Hunter Education Center on Perch Pond Road in Holderness. Discover WILD New Hampshire Day Set for Saturday, April 17, 2010
Bring the family to Discover WILD New Hampshire Day on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord, N.H.  Admission is free.  See live animals, big fish, retriever dogs, trained falcons, and “The Battling Bull Moose of Fowlertown.”  Exhibits by dozens of environmental, conservation and outdoor organizations from around New Hampshire.  Hands-on activities for all ages, from wildlife crafts to archery and casting.  Get a close-up look at hybrid vehicles and discover other energy-saving, environmentally friendly ideas.  Co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, with support from the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire.

N.H. Free Fishing Day -- Saturday, June 5, 2010. State residents, and nonresidents, too, can fish any inland water in the Granite State that day without a fishing license. Season dates, limits and all other fishing regulations must be followed on Free Fishing Day. Anglers fishing for brood stock Atlantic salmon in the Merrimack and lower Pemigewasset rivers must have a fishing license and a special permit.

Watershed Ecology Institute
July 19-23 and 26-30, 2010, at the Plymouth Regional High School in Plymouth, NH

This 10-day summer institute class is offered through the University of New Hampshire division of continuing education, and is taught by staff from New Hampshire Fish and Game, UNH Cooperative Extension and the N.H. Department of Environmental Services. The class uses watersheds as a framework for studying wetlands, rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and estuaries. Ideal for science educators, youth leaders and community leaders. College credit and tuition assistance available.
