CONTACT: Director Sought for Barry Conservation Camp in Berlin, N.H. CONCORD, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Service is seeking to fill the position of Director for the Barry Conservation Camp, a small 4-H camp operated jointly by Cooperative Extension and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. The Camp Director trains and supervises a staff of ten and oversees programs throughout the summer season for about 30 campers. Camp programs focus on conservation, shooting sports and fishing. The position is a seasonal job, full-time from mid-May to August and requiring some weekend planning and preparation hours during non-summer months. During the summer season, the camp director lives at Barry Conservation Camp in Berlin, N.H. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and have a bachelor's degree with two years experience in organized youth camping; or a high school diploma and 4-6 years experience. Applicants should have an understanding of and commitment to conservation topics and 4-H youth shooting sports, including safe gun handling. The position requires knowledge of the operation of youth recreation camps; effective oral and written communication skills; a commitment to youth development; and emotional maturity, initiative and judgment.
