National Hunting and Fishing Day - NH Celebration

Get set for the season at two free public events in New Hampshire celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 24, 2011. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will host a Sporting Expo in Concord, sponsored by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire, and a family-friendly Open House at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness with hands-on activities related to the shooting sports, hunting and trapping. The N.H. Fish and Game Department grounds at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord will be transformed into a giant outdoor Sporting Expo from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 24, 2011. Admission is free. Under the big top, representatives from 70+ hunting and fishing-related products and services organizations and companies will present exhibits, demonstrations and activities for visitors. Demos and exhibits throughout the Fish and Game grounds. Conservation Officers and biologists will be on hand to talk about the importance of conservation, hunting and fishing.

  • Pointing dog and retriever demonstrations

  • Food concession from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Open House at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center - Holderness

Also on September 24, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., come to a family-friendly Open House at Fish and Game’s Owl Brook Hunter Education Center at 387 Perch Pond Road in Holderness, featuring hands-on activities related to the shooting sports, hunting and trapping. Admission is free. Click here for directions to Owl Brook. Special activities at Owl Brook (all free) during the National Hunting and Fishing Day event include:

  • Practice archery range
  • 3-D woodland archery course
  • Video shooting simulator
  • Chance to to try Ruger shotguns and Thompson / Center Arms new line of muzzleloaders.

Agents and sporting goods retailers may offer special National Hunting and Fishing Day in-store sales or discounts, seminars, product demos or other activities. Sporting clubs are encouraged to open their doors to the public for special sight-in days, muzzleloader shoots, range tours or shotgun events.
